Sussex Breweries

Here in Brighton & Hove we’re some of the luckiest beer drinkers in the world. Bordered on one side by the sea, and on the other by the South Downs, we live in a beautiful city. And, both in the city and right across Sussex, teams of dedicated brewers are brewing up fantastic beer!

There are more than sixty breweries in Sussex and, when the area’s population is taken into account, this number is thrown into stark perspective. A recent study estimated that East Sussex has around 6.4 breweries per 100,000 people. This compares to just 0.4 per 100,000 in London, a place that sometimes feels overrun with new breweries and tap rooms.

And these brewers are not just brewing ‘boring brown beer’. Many are well-established, some are just becoming known, and a few are world-renowned innovators at the very top of their game. And the very best of them, the absolute cream of the crop, will be represented right here in the city during Brighton & Hove Beer Week.

From the tradition and magical yeast funkiness of Harvey’s, to the genius of Burning Sky; from established names like Dark Star, to bright young things like Cloak & Dagger and Lost Pier; and from the skill and integrity of Cellar Head and Franklins, to the random brilliance of Lost & Found, Abyss and UnBarred, Sussex beer is on its way to Brighton & Hove for Beer Week!

Make sure you catch up with all the Sussex breweries on offer during Brighton & Hove Beer Week. And keep a close eye on the events pages for information about where you can try them.
